Handmade Fine Silver Crochet Jewellery
My name is Dawn Knights and I am a designer and maker of fine silver crochet jewellery.
My jewellery is very wearable and is created using silver-plated, pure silver, gold or coloured wires. I work with small crochet hooks, fine silver and coloured wires and beads of varying sizes and shapes to create intricate pieces of work. I use a mixture of semi-precious stone beads, Swarovski crystals, hand-blown glass beads, Czech glass, freshwater and faux pearls, shell beads, buttons and seed beads.
I source unusual pendants to attach as a finishing touch. The pendants are detachable and can be worn with or without the finely crocheted necklace. I regard this ‘detachable’ pendant as being an asset to my work where the customer can wear the necklace by itself to a less formal event and then add the pendant for a more flamboyant evening out to somewhere special.
Each piece of jewellery is entirely handmade by me and takes time, energy and a great deal of patience to complete as well as metres of thin, fine, wire. My designs are mainly classical, elegant and sophisticated and I aim to make jewellery that is timeless while retaining a certain ‘wow’ factor. My designs are therefore quite low key and understated. Each piece is soft to touch and lacy but durable and tough.
I attend and exhibit my jewellery at some of the UK’s top art, craft and design events and have been very successful with past customers returning year after year to buy further pieces for themselves, family and friends. Please refer to dates and details of this year’s show events listed below.
